Description

per http://en.labs.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Talk:Wiki_to_print&oldid=85811#Links

Since we're printing and displaying PDFs, we need the links to be links, but we also need the URL provided somewhere. Let's do both. Link the text for clicking and provide the URL at the end of the page for printing.

copied stuff fromt the discussion on http://en.labs.wikimedia.org/wiki/Talk:Wiki_to_print

External links should be clickable in-place (as opposed to grouped at the end and hyperlinked there). Mike.lifeguard | @meta 01:29, 8 August 2008 (UTC)

The reason for the current behaviour is that the PDF can be printed or viewed on a screen. Therefore the URL is printed and clickable. The reason for printing the URL at the end of the article and not inside the text is mainly an issue of space and readability. But we can certainly discuss how links should be displayed to be usable when printed and viewed on-screen. Volker.haas (talk) 15:02, 21 August 2008 (UTC)

Internal links should link to the appropriate location in the document if the page is included in the collection; else it should link to the live site. Mike.lifeguard | @meta 01:29, 8 August 2008 (UTC)

Internal links are not supported currently, but there is a ticket for that http://code.pediapress.com/wiki/ticket/278. All wikilinks currently point to the live site. But your suggestion definitely makes sense. Volker.haas (talk) 15:04, 21 August 2008 (UTC)

  • resolution set to fixed

Internal links are now supported.

All external links should now be clickable. If a URL is not printed directly but put in an endnote, the reference is clickable.

I guess this should be the intended behaviour. Re-open if something is still missing
